Multiplication & Division; Oh My!

Throughout this unit, students will be learning several strategies for solving multi-digit multiplication and division problems. Students will be taught and encouraged to practice all strategies; however students may use whichever strategy that suits them best to solve for the products and quotients. In addition, students will be using their knowledge of multiplication and division when problem solving in number stories.

 

Unit 1 Assessment!

Math Students received a Unit 1 Review packet. This packet is meant to be a review and practice of all of the material we have covered in Unit 1: Place Value, Data Collection and Geometry. We have also sent home the "answer key" to this review packet. Students are encouraged to check their own work and reflect on areas that they will need to review prior to the assessment. Moving on to Geometry!

We have moved on to our 3rd part of Unit 1 . . . Geometry! We have begun with "Geo-Aerobics". Please ask your student to demonstrate the "Geo-Aerobics" at home! We are exploring lines, line segments and rays. Furthermore, we are using the lines to form a variety of angles and triangles. In the near future, we will identify and classify polygons and non-polygons. Mrs. Teal's Math Class: Unit 1

We have eagerly begun our 4th grade Math curriculum! Unit 1 is an extensive and lengthy unit of study. We have begun the unit learning about Place Value. Students are learning multiple ways to write numbers; standard form, word form and expanded form. Students are also identifying the value of digits in a number, place value up the the millions, and place value periods. Mrs. Teal's Math Class

Mrs. Teal's Math class will cover the 4th grade Montgomery County Math curriculum with extensions. Our Math instruction will consist of whole group lessons, daily individual practice, small group instruction and Math centers and games. Students will recieve a "preview packet" for each unit, as well as a Student Reference book for home use and practice. Scooped Up Math Facts

Students will have a chance to show their mastery of their basic multiplication and division facts every WEDNESDAY! Students are required to master at least 90% of the basic facts in order to "move" onto the next level.  Results will be graphed by the students on Fridays. Please help us in encouraging your children to practice their Math facts at least three times per week!
